12/22/2018 Alya is now lying and stating she's won awards and had a top song hit. Alya stated this, "Animals premieres today at the Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood, as the winner of the Best Music Video award." I searched their site. She's not even mentioned.

Later she posted a photoshopped image saying she's number one in the charts.

Why is she doing this? This is embarrassing.

ORIGINAL: Where do I begin? Alya Michelson married billionaire Gary Michelson in an arranged contract for MONEY. She gets money to pretend to be a real wife and to be a baby oven. She gave him, sold to him three kids in exchange for money. That's when you're done working and you can take a break but not Alya aka Alyaunte. She is now selling cheap childlike bracelets for $40. This will make her rich! You know her kids made them. She married a billionaire. He pays for her expensive makeup and hair sessions. He pays for a producer to help her try to make music. He pays for Russian people to talk to her. He pays for clothes, photoshoots, social media promoters, paid likes, paid fans,lawyers, legal fees... Why does she need $40 so badly?

She's also selling photos of herself recreating famous photos. All beginner photographers recreate these iconic photos for fun. It shows an extreme lack of originality. It's also an insult to the original photographer and model. Alya even took pics of herself as if she were on the cover of TIME magazine. Guess who else faked magazine covers? Donald Trump. Nice company.

Here is the new single. It sounds like inarticulate high pitched yelling, moaning with a Japanese Russian accent. So far that is what all her stuff sounds like. It's jibberish. And not to knock someone who speaks two languages, but if you say you speak English fluently maybe you should speak it fluently in your videos. She mangled the pronunciation of many words and their meanings in this fake interview at her home with all the gaudy crap she bought with Gary's money.

It really is a Goop dress. It's $475 for basically a cotton long mens shirt with ruffles and a tie belt. Who is so desperate for retweets, hits, likes that they wear a Goop dress? If you are an artist, shouldn't you be making your own fashions instead of buying overpriced white bread designs from an extremely bland person like Gweneth Paltrow. Real stylists make fun of Goopy. Alya should probably spend some years training to be an artist before she just spreads her name on social media. Paying for likes, running contests for likes, wearing a Goop dress for likes... ugh.

In her videos she fakes plays the instruments. She doesn't even know how to hold them. It looks ridiculous. I don't know who told her to do that but it's embarrassing.

The Found Animals Foundation just sent an email saying they're doing "Great!" Gary has allegedly invested $100,000,000 in lots of research projects to find a one dose permanent sterilant for cats, dogs. It's been 11 years and he still hasn't found one. He keeps giving grants for needless experiments. The doctors beg for the grants to get the money. They have no goal to find a sterilant. If they did, there wouldn't be any more grants.  Gary then blasts other researchers who do needless experiments just to get grants. Meanwhile there are already FDA approved drugs he could buy and use to sterilize the animals. He instead insists of spending lots of money to try to find a new one so he can patent it and make money. The patent and money are the true goals of Dr Gary Michelson. He obviously doesn't really care about the animals.

The email told everyone to read this nice article the Jewish Journal wrote about him back in March. I don't have a problem with the Jewish Journal writing the article. They wrote what he told them to write. They are a great periodical.

The Jewish Journal of course wants some of Gary's money, another reason for the article. From the article, "Asked why he has not made Jewish charities a focus of his work, Michelson said, “To me, that’s like a small-world view of things. It’s never occurred to me to ask what religion people are." Remember this line folks in case anyone ever asks you to donate to a religious cause. Gary will continue to dangle his money in front of people hoping to get praise like this article.

My issue with the article is the grandma story. It keeps changing getting more dramatic with every telling. He has since added a new story about how he was able to not get kicked out of med school when he refused to needlessly operate on an animal. In the story he found a way to use a little girl's rib to repair a leg injury so she wouldn't need her leg amputated. This changed the school's mind about kicking him out. Doctors have been doing bone grafts for years using ribs. He's not that old. The med school also wanted his tuition money. I doubt he would have been kicked out for not operating on a dog. He previously stated he refused to operate on a dog in med school. The "almost got kicked out" is a new part to the story. His miracle save is also new. And heaven forbid he not slam his parents some more, he states that his mom and dad were violent and would hit him. His only friend was the family dog. Oddly his brothers had a fine relationship with the mom, don't know about the dad who is now deceased.

The article ends with this.

“What do I want on my tombstone?” he said. “ ‘He made a difference. He tried to change the world, and to leave it a little bit better.’”

That won't be his legacy. His legacy will be as a man with no friends, no family except the new wife, kids he bought who don't like him. He'll be known as a man who thinks the world has cheated him, taken advantage of him. He is a man consumed by vengeance against others who just didn't want to be his friend because he's unstable, crazy and not very nice. He'll be known as the man who stole his main "invention" from a horse veterinarian. He'll be known as a man who publicly brags about his "big hands" any chance he gets with an evil smile. Based on my experience that generally means an inverse relationship. It also shows his major insecurities besides his juvenile psyche. He's 67 years old. He'll also be known as a man in turmoil over his closeted homosexual status. Can't come out when you come from a conservative Russian Jewish family from the east coast. Everyone knows. It's even been in public court documents.

He won't be known for helping the world. He filed patents to make money not to help people. If he wanted to help people, he'd make his patents free. That would probably save $50,000 on each back surgery. People would be able to afford the surgery if he hadn't patented the horse vet's invention. Benjamin Franklin was a renown inventor who actually helped the world because he didn't patent anything. Franklin stated that patents don't help society. Patents are for people only interested in money and ego. That is Gary Michelson. Gary even had the nerve to make that ridiculous video where he states he has one fewer patent than Benjamin Franklin. That would mean he has -1 patent. Gary wants people to think he's as bright as Franklin. How dumb does someone have to be to not realize Franklin made thousands of inventions but he had zero patents intentionally. If I could invent something that would save people's lives, I'd give it away for free. Any sane person would.

For the at least second year in a row Dr Gary Michelson is NOT on the Forbes 400 lit of wealthiest people. Gary Michelson was very upset he didn't make the list last year and swore he had $1.65 billion in order to try to make the list. In previous years he worked hard to make sure he was on the list. Attorney General requested extension and was denied in part. AG represents state of California

The Attorney General is representing the state in this matter, not the District Attorney which represented the state in the local case. The AG's office is in the same building as the Court of Appeals. I believe the AG is the one who gave the DA permission to arrest Neil and Richard and have them extradited back to LA. It's interesting that the Appeals Court only gave a 30 day extension when they requested 60 days. In my case the same court gave the Appellees two sixty day extensions and they still didn't file their brief. Perhaps the Appeals could had found the AG abusive in the past in making extension requests? I don't know.

A friend of mine is a highly educated, brilliant and experienced attorney. He filed a case for an insurance claim and lost is superior court. He went to the appeals court with his very solid case. He lost. He filed a petition for rehearing which was granted then still lost. He lost all faith in the justice system and was considering abandoning the law profession. Fortunately he didn't.

I for one know first hand how incredibly corrupt our judicial system is. There is a major conflict of interest here between lawyers and judges. Many articles have been written about the fact that judges are close friends with lawyers.

In order to be a judge you must be a lawyer first. Most criminal judges are past city prosecutors. If a lawyer wants to become a judge, he knows he has to make campaign contributions to the winning candidate for the DA's office and other political offices. The lawyer must join every law organization, bar association and legal club. The lawyer must get cozy with all the existing judges and their friends. Lawyers are the major contributors to Judge's campaigns. Judges should not be allowed to take contributions for lawyers, law firms or law organizations of any type. In Texas it's the same way. Most contributors to Judges are lawyers.

In exchange for campaign donations or just personal relationships the Judges will bend the law and rule in favor of their donors or friends. That's just how it works. I have campaigned for politicians and causes. The main thing the animal people do is donate to animal friendly candidates.

Legally a judge must disclose any relationship he has with any attorney before a proceeding begins. Of course they don't do that. My judges didn't disclose their very, very close relationships with Plaintiffs' attorney and his wife. I even put the Plaintiffs' attorney on the stand and he admitted he had a long standing relationship with my judge. They meet at all the legal organizations events, are on the same boards of directors, bar association.

I personally believe anyone who wants to be a judge should not be allowed. They should be randomly nominated from an anonymous pool of highly experienced lawyers with good reputations. They should only get one term of four years. There also needs to be more disclosures about relationships to parties. I've been in court where a Judge said to an attorney "I think you interned for me 20 years ago. Did you?" The attorney replied yes so the Judge stated he had to recuse himself. In my case none of the judges did this even though they should have.

Gary Michelson gets used by Dean Florez for his money - Forbes billionaire Los Angeles

I'm all for free and cheap textbooks. I provide all my manuals on wildlife rehabilitation for free online. Many other people have been doing this for many years. Below is an article about Gary Michelson giving his money from 20 Million Minds to OpenStax. OpenStax makes and shares free sourced textbooks. They existed long before 20 Million Minds.

My point is that Gary Michelson gives money to 20 Million Minds who then gives it to OpenStax. OpenStax has been accomplishing the same goals as 20 Million Minds for years. It would make more sense for Gary Michelson to give the money directly to OpenStax. Instead he gives it to Dean Florez to give it to OpenStax after siphoning off lots of money for his salary, salary of his friends which he hired, his expenses, probably also all of his family's personal expenses. Then he gives some of what's left over to OpenStax.

Dean Florez convinced Gary Michelson that there was a problem, i.e. "Education is broken. It needs to be deconstructed and fixed with Gary's money.  No one else has done this, is dong this." That is of course bullshit. The problem had already been tackled by other organizations. Dean Florez just "told" Gary that there was a problem that needed his money.

Dean Florez has a long history of being unethical, using campaign funds for his own expenses, living high on the hog and being extremely dishonest. In fact because of his last problems which I detailed here  he was not able to get another job as a politician or in government. The only person who would hire this thieving fraud was Gary Michelson.

Dean Florez is taking a salary of $300,000 per year. Here is their most recent tax return. Notice the loan from director to organization. Why didn't Gary just donate the money to his organization instead of loaning it? Is he charging interest? More tax fraud? If you need to search 20 Million Minds you must spell it like "Twenty Million Minds."

These expenses look odd. I wonder if Gary Michelson is doing more tax fraud. He already was caught by the IRS with illegal write offs. He paid $6,300 for a WordPress website which costs $75 for a template? $67,000 in legal fees? What for? $192,000 for consulting when he already has a staff consultant? Is this lobbying, Dean giving money to his friends?

More expensive legal and accounting fees. Gary is again loaning money to his own nonprofit. It has no due date and no interest. Then why? It's true you can only write off 50% of your gross income per year. Maybe that's the reason?

Gary is donating from one of his non-profits to the other. Why? David Cohen seems to be getting a salary from all of Gary's non-profits plus his salary to manage money. I would bet David Cohen is also getting kickbacks, commissions from others when he spends Gary's money.

In summary it looks like 90% of the money Gary gives, loans to 20 Million Minds is used on overhead, salary, office rent, furniture, consulting... 20 Million Minds just gives money to other organizations. Gary could save 90% of the money by getting rid of the office, employees and just being a name only organization that donates to non-profits who are actually doing the work. He's save money and still be able to take credit.

Here is the most recent 990 for Found Animals. He gave a whopping $2.5 million towards the $75,000,000 Prize(?). He started the Prize in 2008. Seven years later and he still hasn't awarded the prize and he never will. If he doesn't have a big piece of bologna on his head not even dogs will want to be his friend. Aimee Gilbreath now gets $300,000/year salary. She started at $180,000/yr. Who approves these raises? Gary is still giving Daniel Guss of the Stand Foundation money. Daniel Guss is a convicted criminal. He was found guilty of theft and sentenced. He's in contempt of a court order and on probation.

If you look at that 990 you will see Gary's other holding companies, organizations donating stock and other things to Found Animals. Is he dumping worthless shares on Found animals as some sort of tax evasion? If you look at these 990's it really looks like Gary Michelson using his non-profits for tax evasion. What's ironic is Gary accuses art museums of being tax evasion.

A last thought on Gary Michelson's free text book idea. Why doesn't he force USC to use his free text books? After donating $50 million they should. USC won't do it because they'd lose a ton of money which they make buying, selling books at the USC book store.

I was born Roman Catholic from Mexican, Spanish family. Generally all women's first names are Mary. Then we each get different middle names. We do name ourselves after living or dead relatives. Originally Medtronic sued Gary for breach of contract because Gary was marketing his patents which he licensed to Medtronic to competitors which was against their contract. Gary was indeed breaching his contract. Gary then countersued and said Medtronic failed to develop his inventions and was infringing on his patents. Gary won that suit and Medtronic was ordered to pay Gary $500M via jury verdict. This is not good enough for Gary. He appeals and asks for $1.7B. Then Medtronic and Gary settle with Gary selling his patents and rights to Medtronic. Gary also promises Medtronic rights to anything he invents in the next 15 years then Gary stops "inventing" aka patenting other people's inventions. Just some clarification to note that Gary did breach a contract. The court did not award $1.3B to Gary but $500M. Medtronic agreed to give $1.3B to Gary in exchange for all current and future rights.

"Dr. Michelson is well known in the industry for prodigiously inventing and patenting numerous spine implants, surgical tools and techniques. During the 1990's Michelson licensed his inventions to Sofamor Danek, which Medtronic acquired in 1999 for $3.3 billion. In 2001, Medtronic sued Michelson for over $200 million, charging that he was marketing some of his inventions to competitors. Michelson turned out to be anything but a pushover and countersued, charging that Medtronic had failed to develop the inventions he had licensed to the Company, was infringing on his inventions and was therefore depriving him of tens of millions of dollars in royalties.

Last fall, a federal jury ruled in favor of Michelson and ordered Medtronic to pay over $500 million in compensatory and punitive damages. The jury also said Medtronic owed royalties on sales of products that used Michelson's inventions, an amount that could have totaled $1 billion over two decades. The utterly tenacious Dr. Michelson didn't give up there and sought to appeal the court's decision seeking up to $1.7 billion from Medtronic. Neither side would say what led to Friday's $1.35 billion agreement, but it does resolve all outstanding litigation between the parties, removes the stigma of a court case that wasn't going well for Medtronic and ultimately gets everyone out of the "valley of the lawyers" as we like to call it."

Gary Michelson revealed many embarrassing, personal things in this lawsuit. Was it worth it for him? No.

Gary Michelson and his bud David Cohen shovel money to USC

Dr Gary Michelson gave the DAs tons of money. His goal was to get them to throw his ex-best friend in prison for effectively life. While trying to accomplish this Gary Michelson revealed himself to be involved in what I believe is political corruption. Gary admitted he had lunch with the DAs office to "thank" them for filing charges against his ex-friend. I've posted the docs which show he donated the max to the ex and current DAs.

Gary Michelson committed perjury in trial on the stand and in written documents. There was no six percent agreement. There was no salary. The defendants did not take any money or property from Gary. Gary filed a false report to the DAs office. I truly believe the DA should go after Gary for perjury. He wasted a ton of the state's money on this case. All the trips to and from Costa Rica, flying witnesses here and back, all the hours of investigation, so many motions, court time...

We also found out that Gary even with his buddy David Cohen his business manager and Andres Marten his teak farm manager is still a shitty businessman. Gary paid David and Andres lots of money to look out for his finances and they both failed him. They should have told him to sell the land before the Costa Rica real estate crash. They both obviously are not looking out for Gary, only themselves.

I told all my friends before the US real estate crash to sell, not buy. I have 30 years experience in real estate and have been through three recessions. The signs are always the same right before the crash. It was very obvious that things were way top heavy and prices were out of control. There is no way that David and Andres did not foresee the crash. What's even more nauseating is that David Cohen in 2011 AFTER the crash tells a magazine that his teak farm investments have been a fantastic investment and will continue to do great. Which is it? It's a great investment or they lost money? They can't have it both ways.

In David Cohen's recent resume he omits that he worked for Murdock, Dole. Maybe he was fired. He left, was fired in 1997. He then went and worked for two horrible companies one as a principal. Both companies were scammers i.e. Quellos, New Century. David was there while they were ripping people off. He worked at New Century while he also worked for Gary. His first job was at another company renown for ripping off uber wealthy people, Lazard Freres. He's now selling investing seminars and started another investing company from his house. His previous one went under. I don't see much success in David Cohen except in landing wealthy people to try to loot. He claims to have worked for "two" companies, Dole and Pacific Holdings. They are basically the same company as they are owned by the same person. He no longer mentions Quellos, only the company that bought it. Could it be because the CEO and lawyer for Quellos were indicted?

Day 3 Gary Michelson criminal trial. Interesting twists and turns. Forbes billionaire crazy perjury evil.

Gary Michelson came by himself today. For some strange reason he seemed to be frightened to show up by himself the first day or so. He'd run and hide in different rooms including the bathroom between sessions. I perceived this as the paranoia of a crazy person.

 There was only one witness which they did not want present for other witnesses and she gave her testimony today. There is nothing to worry about me posting my notes. There may be mistakes here. Please, correct me. These are not official minutes but merely the jist I would say.

U: Are you familiar with real estate transactions in California?
G: Yes.
U: Are you familiar with the term "flipping?"
G: Ya. I understand the concept.
U: The concept being buy with the purposes of resale after upgrade?
G: Ya. The first property we (C&M Investments) bought was already listed. Therefore the seller paid P 6% comm.
U: Did P bring the property to you?
G: Yes. I never went to Costa Rica. N wanted to be the eyes, ears, even the legs of C&M. He wanted to retire there and a teak farm owner.
U: Did you have lawyers in Costa Rica and the US help you with these transactions?
G: I had a law firm in CR set up by Mr Munoz in 2000 or 2001. They were retained to make sure the property was "cleared" (of liens, ownership, title issues). Bill Capps was my lawyer in the US. He found Munoz for me. I started a partnership with N and myself in 2000. P would notify Munoz when the properties were cleared and Munoz would verify it with records. N had full authority, power over C&M. Once P drove Munoz out to see a farm to verify things.
U: Why did P need a power of attorney to buy for C&M?
G: He needed a power of attorney to buy for C&M.
U: When did this 6% commission start with P?
G: It started with the third property. In 2001 we agreed that P would get no more than 6% comm while negotiating the lowest price from the seller.
U: Are there any records that show 6% was paid to P?
G: Welllll.....in March 2006 P said he never took over 5.8% comm, and again in March 2010.
U: Were there any witnesses to this oral agreement of 6%?
G: N witnessed the oral agreement.
U: Where was P, N and you when you had this agreement?
G: N and I were in LA on the phone and P was in CR on the phone 2000 or 2001.
U: How long did it take to clear title on some properties?
G Sometimes up to five years. P would provide me with an invoice. N reviewed them. N was an active partner. I was a passive partner. C&M Limitado in CR was formed by P and his wife Virginia. Then signed it over to us. C&M Inc in the US is a partnership just to pay taxes. P was the actual manager of the properties and C&M. N was the general partner of C&M, not Powers.
U: When did you first feel concerned about the transactions?
G: End of 2005. That's why I hired David Cohen. "I had a lot of bad investments. I'm not a good business man." Cohen asked for all the records from P but didn't receive them.
U: When were your issues with P settled?
G: Bookeeping issues never resolved. P was flipping properties, doubling the prices, giving money to N.
U: Objection.
J. The last statements shall be stricken.
G. I learned about this in 2006 or 2007.  P gave docs to Judge Febrezian to give to Villasenor in mediation.
U: I want to show you the transcript of your recorded interview with V. Then I want to play tapes.
K: The confidentiality agreement was lifted on mediation when there were no results.
G: Can I talk about confidential mediation here and not be in contempt?

K: Prosecution calls witness Jacquelyne Hernandez with Comercia Bank in the US with bank records of wire transactions of N.
H: Move to exclude witness. She is not the custodian of records. Her testimony is therefore irrelevant. There is a lack of foundation. No chain of custody of records.
K: She wrote the affidavit. She is the custodian of records.
H:  I didn't know that. Still there is no chain of custody. We don't know where these records have been for years. They could be altered.
J: Over ruled.
K: How long have you been at this bank?
W: 16 years. I can't verify that any of the docs are accurate. I was not present for the transfers. I am two levels away from the person who entered the data. I speak no Spanish. These look like the form of our docs but don't know if these are the exact numbers. I can only verify my signature.

She goes back outside so Neil's lawyer can object some more.
H: The DA produced documents which we don't know where they came from. They did not come from the bank. They were requested by the CR consulate in 2009 then came back to the US. They are inadmissible. DA should have gotten records straight from bank. Why not?
DA: Records are older possibly out of retention dates. That's why we got this. H thinks we're "trying to weasel this in."
H: I'm offended!
J: Stop that, you two. Let's bring back the bank person and ask her about retention dates.
DA: What is your retention policy?
W: 7 years. You can't request docs from 2006 today and receive them.
J: Court will receive docs by reference.

DA: How long have you been a peace officer?
V: 19 years, previously with LAPD, 12 years with DA. (he is senior investigator)
DA: Did you tape record an interview with G?
V: Yes. I have a transcript. I went to CR 12/2012. DA, I got the case to investigate 5/12. I didn't get info from G. I got it from his attorney Kirkland and Ellis, Sean Paisley. I also got records from the seizure of P's computers in CR.

V: I got records from CR police Carlos Garcia. I speak Spanish, learned it from my parents. The DOJ requested computers with CR police help. (P was raided at his home in the morning with his wife and kid there. They took four computers)

(I personally dealt with same issue in civil court. Mediation, confidential settlement agreements are able to be divulged in later civil or criminal suit. They can be under seal, protective order)

Judge agrees to let all lawyers including G's email him over the next few days about a possible resolution. Everyone must be cc'd so it's not ex party comm.

I ran some more land comps. It seems the cheapest teak farm property you can buy is about $3,000/acre. That means Gary at a minimum tripled his investment. Based on other comps the value is about $10,000/acre. I'm looking at listings, not sales.

These last two properties seem similar to Gary's properties. Gary stated his land was near roads, airport, river.

Here is Panamerican Wood company website. They say they are one of the largest teak wood plantations in Costa Rica at 6,000 acres. You are supposed to take pasture land and turn it into a teak forest to improve the land. Why was Gary whining and saying he was sold pasture land when he wanted farm land? That's why the government gives the tax credits. I'm also looking at their farms. Teak trees are sticks. That's probably why they grow so fast because they just grow straight up with no side branches which can't be used. These trees are indeed deciduous. Gary was indeed there during the dry season. Gary made it sound like Powers was lying and giving excuses when it doesn't appear that he was. More about teak here.

More about property sales in Costa Rica. Americans can own beach front property. Everyone just needs to make sure any property within two blocks of the beach has a special municipal lease. Gary was again talking out of his ass just like he did about education and Ben Franklin's patents.

Commissions are generally 3-10% for a regular home sale. There is no law about how much people can charge for a "commission." There are no licensed agents in the country. Anyone can be a real estate agent. Farm land with trees is very different than home sales. In Costa Rica you must add a 13% sales tax on the real estate agent commission which must be paid at close of escrow. Obviously if you had a real commission, the price would be even higher to the buyer. There is no capital gains tax in Costa Rica.

More interesting things. A real estate commission would have to have been included in the sales contract. All property sales must have a written contract so they can be recorded. That means Richard's commission, if there was one, would have been in the sales contracts. I doubt they were because there was no 6% agreement. They do not have MLS or standardized forms like we do here. Lawyers draft the agreements. If Gary really only wanted Powers to get 6%, he had to put it in the written contract which I assume his attorney drafted. Here's more. They offer title insurance. Gary could have bought title insurance. If you transfer title directly instead of transferring shares in a limitada, you have to pay more tax. Seems Powers was trying to save Gary or himself transfer tax. Here in Cali seller pays transfer tax. Gary is looking more ungrateful by the second. Gary is also looking like he did no due diligence whatsoever even though he had US and CR lawyers. The CR lawyer also spoke Spanish. Typical Gary. I saw him do the same with Ed Boks, pet kiosks, microchips..... In fact David Cohen took over in 2005 yet Gary continued to make "bad business deals" in 2006 and 2007. Gary is his own worst enemy. They say doctors are the worst investors and I agree.

Some information on price padding in Costa Rica, "the practice known as "price padding" or "net pricings." This is the common practice of adding an amount to the seller's asking price (normally at least 15% and sometimes 100% or even more) and pocketing the difference. (This is usually on top of the commission they charge the seller or in some cases the buyer) and it is perfectly legal to do so."

Here they are talking about people who do not improve the property, clean liens, remove squattors.... They do nothing to the property, never own it. They just tell the buyer the actual sale price is higher than it is. This is legal and very common in Costa Rica. In the US this would be difficult because of disclosure laws, the MLS, easy availability of public property searches... This is something Gary's Costa Rica lawyer would have been responsible for investigating. This is not what Powers did. Powers bought the land, cleared the title, removed squattors, probably had it surveyed, soils tested, legally described, plat map made.....then I think he sold it to Gary. This is an awful lot of work. No one would do all that for 6%, not even in the US where things are easier.

Again, Karma with a capital "k." Gary Michelson steals an invention i.e. threaded spinal cage, runs to patent it before the inventors, beats them to the money, sues anyone who dare invents anything remotely similar then gets sued for medical malpractice for his device which turns out is flawed. I bet the real inventors are having a fine laugh now.

Very interesting article about people and money. I can definitely see Dr Gary Michelson in this article. He was not raised poor. His mother, grandparents pushed him to be a doctor like his other brothers, uncle... He recently made a joke about it in an article, "“In Judaism, it is held that a fetus does not become a person until they graduate from medical school,” says Michelson with a laugh."

Gary Michelson himself admitted he had high blood pressure, stress...during his litigation with Medtronic. I'm sure his increase in wealth has caused an increase in negative feelings. This article also goes into the addiction of wanting to make even more money. It talks about how having a lot of money can make you evil. For Gary Michelson to file a false criminal complaint against his ex-director and now his ex-friend and business associate shows that he is truly evil. All of his foundations can never make up for that behavior.

In the age of the Internet with facts and evidence available with one Internet search you would think people would not lie so boldly. Not so it seems. Dr. Gary Michelson said he thought up microchips all by himself. No, he didn't. The microchips were the idea of Dave Loftus who was the Director of the Foundation. Below is Dr. Gary Michelson's story. FTR neither of them invented chips.

I worked for the Foundation during this time. I did not sign a confidentiality agreement. There is no gag order. Dr. Gary Michelson has a long history of telling stories. This is but one.

"A lifelong animal lover, Dr. Michelson had watched in horror as images of displaced pets flashed across the television screen. The initial tragedy of Katrina had been terrible enough; how could the aftermath be so grueling? Although animal welfare agencies labored tirelessly to help affected pets, the infrastructure for large-scale pet identification and return simply did not exist.

However, Dr. Michelson knew of a technology that could help: microchips. Michelson consulted with his local animal control agency, and found that the Los Angeles County shelter system did not currently offer microchipping! So, he created created a non-profit called Found Animals Foundation and began donating microchips to the County shelters and the Southeast Area Animal Control Authority (SEAACA)."

Dr. Gary Michelson says he started the Foundation because of Katrina. That's not quite true. The corporation was formed December 2005. December 18, 2005 I believe there was a meeting at Kathleen Riordan's house. I have a DVD of the meeting. Dr. Gary Michelson and Dave Loftus of the Found Animals Foundation showed up. Dr. Gary Michelson talked about spay neuter. He didn't mention chips. He didn't mention Katrina. Katrina hit August 25, 2005. The true devastation wasn't noted until days later or longer. Dr. Gary Michelson's first donations as per his tax return was buying two tickets to Sherry Hackett's comedy event. That's not even a donation. He got something in return.

In fact if you read other articles this is the first time Dr. Gary Michelson mentions Katrina. He originally said he started this foundation for animals and another for back conditions because of his love of animals and his grandmother who had back problems.

I'm sure everyone knows this. Dr. Gary Michelson read the Newsweek article that supposedly Ed Boks, Edward Boks wrote. I personally believe Scully ghost wrote that article because he was going to ghost write another article for Ed Boks but Ed didn't have $2,500. Ed asked me for $2,500 to pay Scully and I said no. That article made it seem like Ed Boks had made shelters nokill when he didn't. Euthanasia actually went up his first year at each shelter, i.e. Arizona, New York, Los Angeles. His later years he'd get ahold of the books and fudge the numbers, refuse animals, let them die from disease... There are many articles about this. 

Because of the article Dr. Gary Michelson wanted him to run Los Angeles Animal Services. He automatically believed the bullshit without doing any research. He contacted the Mayor and offered him money to hire Ed Boks. The Mayor agreed to hire Ed Boks. Anyway the meeting was to introduce Ed Boks who would be the new GM officially January 3, 2006. Here's a background story about this relationship. Also note that Dr. Gary Michelson was sued for defamation and had to settle. He most certainly defamed Dave Loftus. Dr. Gary Michelson didn't just defame him at dinner parties either. Dr. Gary Michelson called up Dave Loftus' business partners and defamed him directly hurting his business.

"At that point, the foundation consisted of Dr. Michelson sitting at his kitchen table, writing checks for chips. Found Animals’ donated microchips made free pet ID available to all pets in the LA area, forwarding the foundation’s overall goal to reduce unnecessary shelter deaths. The logic was simple: get lost pets out of the shelters and back with their families, and they won’t be put down for lack of space."

At the time it wasn't just Dr. Gary Michelson. It was Dr. Gary Michelson, Dave Loftus, Mary Herro and me sitting at his kitchen table. Dr. Gary Michelson totally forgets about Dave Loftus. Chips were his idea. He bought the chips and sold them to the Foundation. Dr. Gary Michelson agreed to this. He bought chips from Dave Loftus and his pet kiosk company. Then Dr. Gary Michelson got cold feet because people said chips and kiosks are not a cost effective way to save animals' lives. He wanted his money back. Dave Loftus said no of course because they had an agreement. 

Dr. Gary Michelson then starts defaming Dave Loftus making up horrible lies such as he's wanted by the police, he embezzled money, he stole money.... I worked for Dr. Gary Michelson at the time and believed what he said. I stupidly would tell Dr. Gary Michelson where Dave would be so the police could arrest him . Dr. Gary Michelson also defamed me. I was going to sue him and use the same attorney Dave Loftus did but that attorney said Dr. Gary Michelson and his lawyers are ruthless. He didn't want to go through that experience again even though they got a good settlement.

The police were never going to arrest Dave because he didn't do anything illegal or wrong. Dr. Gary Michelson just got cold feet and wanted to unwind the deal. Dr. Gary Michelson begged Ed Boks to order the police to arrest Dave. LAPD told the Mayor there was no crime. They can't arrest him. LAPD said that Dr. Gary Michelson is mentally ill, crazy. I have all of those emails from the Mayor's office and Ed Boks.

Back to Dr. Gary Michelson's story. Dr. Gary Michelson asked the owner of Chameleon, PetHarbor if microchips or pet kiosks work. He said no because people don't register the chips, don't keep the information current, there are many types of chips and scanners, not all shelters scan for chips... He also said the kiosks don't work and they sold the kiosks. Dr. Gary Michelson felt really stupid for buying chips and kiosks. More from his article,

"Easy fix, right?

Surprisingly, no.

Despite millions of dollars in donated ID, shelter pets were still dying by the thousands. Most baffling, local shelters saw no significant change in return-to-owner rates! Free microchips alone were obviously not doing the job."

He finally admits that he failed with the chips. Back to his statement.

"so in 2008, Dr. Michelson recruited former BCG consultant and Stanford MBA Aimee Gilbreath, and they started to dig into the microchip system failure. The team uncovered some pretty scary facts:"

First off, after Dave Loftus and Dr. Gary Michelson parted ways Dr. Gary Michelson had an idea. He wanted to hire someone WITH ABSOLUTELY NO ANIMAL EXPERIENCE WHATSOEVER. He wanted someone with a business or financial degree. He thought a numbers, money person could solve this problem. He thought people who loved animals were blinded which is odd coming from someone who says he loves animals. Obviously hiring Aimee Gilbreath was not the best idea. She has made some whopper mistakes because she has no animal experience. She's had to waste time learning through trial and error while animals died and money was wasted. Back to his statement.

"1)      Although microchips must be registered to work, most pet owners never register their microchips!This means that shelters and vets who find a chip have no way to contact the pet’s family.

2)      Since most microchip companies charge fees to register and/or update information, many records become outdated when pet owners can’t pay.

3)      Some microchip companies sell nonstandard microchips and non-universal scanners that can’t read all types of chips … so even when a chip is registered and updated, there’s no guarantee it will be picked up by the shelter or vet.

Clearly, the microchip system was not living up to its potential. Dr. Michelson was forced to ask himself the same question millions of pet owners pose each day: is microchipping pets really worth it? 

The foundation was quickly expanding to include other lifesaving programs: pet adoption promotions for area shelters, leadership support for high volume spay and neuter providers, and the Michelson Prize and Grants, a prize philanthropy grant program promising $75 million in award and research funding to develop a safe, nonsurgical sterilant for cats and dogs. So, pouring money into a broken microchip system wasn’t helping anyone.

If we really wanted microchips to work, we would need to take matters into our own paws.

That’s when Found Animals began designing a registry that would allow all U.S. pet owners to maintainfree, lifetime registrations for their microchipped pets, and automate communications for shelters. Our microchip donations expanded to include AngelDogs Foundation, Spay4LA, and SNP-LA, and the Santa Fe Humane Society, and those organizations provided valuable feedback as our registry blossomed. After testing the system with our partners, in March of 2012, we launched the Found Animals Microchip Registry nationwide, and began traveling around the country educating shelters and vets on registration and the importance of microchip and scanner standards."

ALL of us knew this in the year 2000. We spoke about these issues at commission meetings. Check the minutes. Dr. Gary Michelson come lately here also knew this in February 2006. It's seven years later. While I'm happy he made the national registry, I don't know if it's working. I have no idea if people are using it. He would need all the chip companies to give him the data from all their chips and they won't do that. They sell that data to advertisers. I bet Dr. Gary Michelson will use that data to sell to advertisers. He talked about doing that in 2006. He wanted the data that would be inputted from the chips. City, County said they couldn't give him that data. Looks like he's getting that data now.

Here's yet another problem with microchips. All animals adopted from shelters are now chipped. Even when a stray animal is found, it has a chip, data is current, we call the owner, they say they don't want the animal. They even lie and say they're not the owner. If they were, they'd have to pay to dump their animal. 

If someone really cared about their animal they'd have a chip and collar with tags. A collar and tags is the best way to reunite wanted pets with their owners. A microchip will not automatically make people responsible. I volunteered at the shelter and saw animals with chips being put down because owner said he didn't want the animal. I'd see owners bring in their own animal with a chip and dump them. Chips can't save animals. Only humans can save animals.
