Gary Michelson hiding money in Paradise Papers, Panama Papers? Maybe. Tax evasion.

Those two firms are associated with the below holding companies. Again, I don't have positive proof that these are Gary's holding companies. I'll need to do some more digging.

I see the following similar sounding named entities in there. I don't know if these are Gary's holding companies. I will try to find out. The IRS gives rewards for people who lead them to tax evaders.

The agent for the holding companies above are mainly Mossack Fonseca registered in the Bahamas and Appleby.

I'll keep looking. Below is Gary Michelson's previous problems with the IRS from the appeal.

"Petitioner Proskauer is the defendant, and Real Party In Interest Michelson is the
plaintiff, in an action pending in respondent court entitled Michelson, et al. v. Proskauer
Rose LLP, et al., Los Angeles Superior Court case No. BC384760. The operative
pleading in that action, the second amended complaint, alleges that in December 2001,
Michelson invested in two investment vehicles, known as Strategically Diversified
Investment (SDI) and Odora Limited Investment (Odora). Michelson‟s pleading alleges
that he made the investments and claimed losses with respect to them based on formal
opinion letters issued to him by Proskauer—purportedly independent attorneys acting on
his behalf—attesting to the validity of these investments and their likelihood of
withstanding IRS scrutiny.

Michelson‟s action alleges, however, that Proskauer knew but did not disclose to
him that Proskauer was not independent, but had been involved in structuring the SDI
and Odora investments; that Proskauer knew but did not disclose that these transactions
(or transactions very similar to them) had been identified by the IRS as abusive and
illegal tax shelters; and that Proskauer knew but did not disclose that Michelson would be
likely to be assessed penalties if the transactions were challenged by the IRS. He alleges
that Proskauer‟s misrepresentations and omissions fraudulently induced him to invest
about $121 million in SDI and Odora, and to claim losses from those investments on his
tax returns, which he would not have done but for Proskauer‟s advice and failure to
disclose these facts.

The IRS disallowed his claimed losses and assessed substantial penalties, causing
him to incur damages alleged to exceed $20 million."

"The IRS audited Michelson’s 2001 tax return and concluded the SDI and Odora
transactions were illegal tax shelters. The IRS disallowed Michelson’s deductions based
on the losses and assessed penalties and required him to pay back taxes. The IRS also
concluded Proskauer’s should opinions were invalid and could not shield him from
penalties because Proskauer was a promoter of SDI and Odora and not an independent
law firm.

Jeffer Mangels represented Michelson in connection with the audit. Michelson
settled with the IRS instead of litigating in court, paying $47,469,813 in back taxes and
$4,746,986 in penalties."

Dr Gary Michelson bought the naming rights of a building at USC. In exchange for $50,000,000 USC put his name on the building. USC also gave him two honorary degrees, many parties, custom cakes, lots of press, a website, marching band, photo ops and many mentions in their newsletters and websites. Gary is declaring this as a "donation" to USC. As USC is a non-profit Gary Michelson can write off half of what he donated minus anything he received in return such as gifts, professional press campaign and the naming rights. Building naming rights actually have value.

Gary really needed a tax write off. In 2001 Gary bought $121,000,000 worth of tax shelters from Ernst & Young. The IRS stated this was tax evasion. The IRS did not allow those shelters. IRS assessed additional taxes in the amount of $48,000,000 plus a $20,000,000 fine. Gary sued Proskauer for giving him bad tax advice. Gary lost that lawsuit, appealed, lost, appealed, lost.

All naming rights agreements have moral clauses. If the behavior of the donor or school threatens to harm the reputation of the other, the contract is generally voided. With this in mind I will share some very aberrant behavior of Gary Michelson.

I worked for Gary Michelson and the City of Los Angeles in 2006. I've been to Gary's house a few times and spent hours on the phone with him. I know the other people who worked at his foundations. I have no gag order.

In 2006 Gary Michelson who is a homosexual per court documents came on to his then employee. The employee refused Gary's advances. As revenge Gary told me he filed a police report against him stating he embezzled money from Gary. Gary said he reported him to the police and he would soon be arrested.

Later Gary said LAPD is not going after his employee. Gary asked me to ask then Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to tell the LAPD to arrest him. I relayed that message. LAPD was contacted by the Mayor's office. The detectives said there was no evidence of any crime. They stated Gary was a "liar" and "crazy."

By this time the employee heard what Gary said about him. He hired an attorney and sued Gary for defamation besides interference with his business. Gary personally called his employee's business partners and told them he would soon be arrested. I was a witness in that case. Gary instantly settled that case for a nice sum of money I assume on 12/18/2007. Case Number: SC095697. DAVID T.  VS. GARY KARLIN MICHELSON,M.D. ET. AL. Filing Date: 10/18/2007, Case Type: Contractural Fraud (General Jurisdiction).

In that complaint it is stated that Gary offered then Mayor Villaraigosa $10,000,000 if the Mayor hired Ed Boks. The Mayor hired Boks. Gary only ended up giving a small amount of money which upset the Mayor. The Mayor's office asked me where was the rest of the money. They finally realized that Gary makes a lot of promises that he doesn't keep. The $10,000,000 amount is mentioned in the above lawsuit linked above.

The city eventually had to fire Ed Boks because he made mistake after mistake. I ended up having to sue the city for sexual harassment and unlawful termination. I received a settlement in exchange for a dismissal of the case. I refused to sign a gag order. Later Gary's long time friend Neil Campbell left Gary to marry a woman and have a baby. Gary decided he would contract out for a "wife" and do the same but the woman left him. He became engaged to another woman who she called it off after a physical situation. Gary sued her to get the ring back.

By now Gary was very upset that Neil left him. He decided to file a false civil complaint against him saying he and his business friend embezzled money from him. Neil and his friend Philip did not steal any money from Gary. They in fact made him a $35,000,000 profit on teak farms in Costa Rica. After Gary sued them they even offered to have a client buy the land for twice what Gary paid for it but Gary refused. They couldn't afford to reply to the lawsuit and lost by default to the tune of about $25,000,000 to $35,000,000 each.

Gary was still not satisfied. Gary knew the LAPD would refuse his false report. He decided to skip the LAPD and contact the ex DA Steve Cooley who now runs a "justice consulting" business. Criminal cases always must start with LAPD then they go to the DA if there is enough evidence.

Wealthy people give Cooley lots of money in "consulting fees." Cooley then just calls up his almost self-appointed current DA Jackie Lacey. Even though there was absolutely no evidence of any theft Lacey had Gary's boyfriend Neil and his business friend Philip Powers arrested and thrown in LA County jail case #BA409225. Later in the trial Gary admitted that he took Cooley and then current DA office to lunch to thank them for arresting and charging his ex-boyfriend. Cooley then invited Gary to stand with the Sheriff Dept in a press release. Gary then gave Cooley an award.

Of the 150 original charges of theft only five remained come trial time. In the end Neil and Philip were only found guilty of one charge of about $900 theft. They were released from jail with time served and placed on probation. Gary was fuming mad that they did not go to prison. He was yelling at the Deputy DA in the courthouse. I was present at the trial and have the entire transcript.

Gary then decides to bribe people in Costa Rica to reopen the criminal case. Neil and Philip were found not guilty of theft in Costa Rica. That is a link to the official translation of the official transcript. Gary's money made its way into the "right" hands and the case was just reopened. Rex Tillerson just signed an extradition order for Philip to go to Costa Rica. The case will be heard in January 2018.

In the meantime Gary's ex-friend is now very ill. Gary still keeps dragging a penniless dying man to court hearing after court hearing.

I would think any of the above behavior would violate the morals clause in USC's naming agreement yet there is still more. People have met Alya Michelson Gary's "wife" from Russia. Gary proudly told everyone that she was an arranged "marriage" from Russia. He bragged that for this reason she can't leave him.

Gary took advantage of a young woman who wanted to come to the US. This shows huge disrespect for women and their worth. The fact that Gary viciously attacks any man who refuses his advances or leaves him shows that he's a predator who uses his money and power to harm people.

What else has USC been giving Michelson in exchange for his millions? Notice that Luke Dauchot Gary's lawyer is now an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at USC teaching a class on IP law. Notice he has no research papers in his profile. He is only a lawyer. I wonder what else USC gave Gary in exchange for his millions?

I have uncovered some very unsettling information about Gary Michelson. Again, everyone, do NOT do business with him. Do NOT work for him. Do NOT accept money from him. Most important NEVER be his friend. He manages to destroy all his friends, employees, independent contractors.... This next tale of the evilness that is Gary Michelson is a cautionary tale. This is what he does to people. I guess I was lucky I didn't work for him too long. Still, he committed perjury which really hurt my lawsuit.

Gary Michelson hired a French national named Henry who was an extremely talented horticulturalist and landscape designer. Henry had already done some big jobs in Beverly Hills and was well established. Gary asked Henry to design the most fantastic garden possible which would be the envy of all. Henry happily went to work designing and building an incredible garden.

This garden has a 50 foot tall waterfall with a 150 foot tall rock wall which was to have thousands of orchids, hundreds of different species. They had to tear out an entire hill to achieve this which upset the neighbors who reported Gary to building and safety. Gary hooked up with the engineer who built the 80,000 sq ft + house behind me. That engineer knows how to get around all the codes. I know because I've been following the project behind me. You can see all he did to the property in the previous post. Last time I saw the property he had the original pool and the trellis, nothing more. His rear yard was basically flat with a gentle downslope. In order to build a 150 foot tall rock wall he'd have to dig out 150 feet of dirt! This is a bad idea on so many levels the least of which is he's in an earthquake fault and liquifaction zone. He really dinged the value of his property by digging out the site. Flat lots are much more desirable. The garden visitors said they had to climb many steep stairs.

Henry spent five years building this most amazing garden. Gary kept asking for something new possibly to keep Henry around because Gary probably "liked" him. Keep in mind Gary has no real friends. The only way he can have anyone want to hang around him is if he pays them. He had to buy his Russian mail order beard. No way would she ever have anything to do with him if he didn't pay her. You know that joke "you were so ugly that your dog wouldn't even play with you unless you were covered with baloney?" With Gary he has to cover himself with $1,000 bills in order for anyone to even want to talk to him.

Anyway Henry felt that Gary was strange and he felt uncomfortable. Everyone who meets Gary says the same thing. I thought he was strange the first second I met him. Eventually Henry lands a big commercial job in Florida so he moves there and buys a house. Funny, Neil moved to Florida as well. Maybe because it's the farthest US state away from California and Gary.

Gary being evil, petty Gary starts to feel like maybe he was somehow cheated. Actually I bet he didn't feel cheated. He probably just wanted to be mean to Henry because Henry left. I think Gary makes up this "I was cheated!" crap in his mind to justify destroying someone for his own pleasure. The entire time Henry was building the garden he gave all receipts to Gary. Gary decides to ask another landscape designer how much it would cost to duplicate this garden. He gave them all the specs with the list of all items bought without the prices. The new landscape designer thinks about it a few days and says "$3 million and two years." Well, Gary spent $5 million and five years to build his current garden. He is of course livid and goes on a rampage like he always does. He feels "cheated." He decides to destroy Henry. I would bet the new landscape person intentionally bid it low knowing he could add on fees and costs later as over run. I doubt Gary was cheated of anything.

Gary Michelson sues Henry for $5 million for fraud. Henry had just bought a $500K house and had $400K in cash. He tells this to Gary who asks for his house and all his money. They finally settle because Henry doesn't want to get in a fight with Gary and he gives him all his money. Keep in mind Henry was making good money before he met Gary. Obviously Henry would not spend five years of his time building a garden for Gary for no money. That would be ridiculous.

Back to what I was saying yesterday as I reviewed the permits for the garden. They were listed as owner. Generally you would have the name of a licensed, bonded, legal landscape designer/contractor. That didn't happen because Henry is a French national without a green card. I have a feeling this is why Gary hired Henry because he wasn't licensed or a citizen. This way he can really eff him up.

Even after Gary agrees to take the $400K to settle things Gary is not satisfied. Gary turns Henry into the IRS for tax evasion. IRS takes his house and he gets four years in prison but is out in two. Right before he's about to get out Gary calls immigration services. They arrest and deport him the day he's supposed to get out of jail.

Gary is very proud of his evil plan and starts bragging about what he did to people. He says paraphrased "I sue them in civil court, get everything I possibly can from them, then I turn them into the IRS and they can take whatever is left. If I'm still not satisfied, I file criminal charges. By now they are so broke they can only get a public defender. With that they will be going to jail. Muahaha!" Okay, I added the last word but you get the picture.

That still is not enough. Gary likes to inflict as much evil as possible while making, stealing money and saving money on his taxes. Gary Michelson was charged with tax evasion by the IRS. He settled with them by paying the taxes and a penalty.

Gary papers people into indigence in civil court. Then he charges them in criminal court knowing they will be legally defenseless with a public defender and end up in jail. He gets a huge civil judgment for say $50,000,000 when he actually didn't lose any money. He then claims that as a loss to the IRS so he can write it off. Gary screws someone in civil court, screws them again in criminal court then he gets to screw the IRS. How's that for a win win win situation? Muahaha!

I think this is why Gary Michelson intentionally wanted a Russian mail order beard. He wants to totally control her and her kids. I bet he didn't make her a citizen. I bet Gary has her passport. I bet Gary has security watching and tracking her every move. Alya, girl, run back to Russia with your kids before Gary files false criminal charges against you, throws you in jail and takes your babies. I bet Gary will lie and claim Alya beat her baby so he can get her thrown in jail and he gets full custody of the kids. Then he'll report her and she'll be shipped back to Russia as a criminal.

Gary Michelson loses another lawsuit, Proskauer Rose, IRS, taxes, tax evasion

Gary, Gary, Gary, where do I start? How about with you just lost this lawsuit...  again. Gary Michelson lost his motion to reconsider Defendants' motion for summary judgment which Gary lost. Gary Michelson always appeals and files motions to reconsider which he loses.  I would think his lawyers would be honest with him and tell him he does not have a case. Maybe they are and he just says "I don't care. I'm Gary Michelson and I'll do whatever the hell I want!" Maybe they just want to make money. Below is the final order, ruling.

The main issue is this case is "Dr Gary Michelson cannot prove that he relied on Proskauer" when he bought the tax shelter. In this case Gary Michelson contradicts her own testimony again. He first states he never communicated with Proskauer. His attorneys communicated with Proskauer. Later he says Proskauer sent letters to his home. Gary then refuses to prove what his attorney related to him stating the conversations were privileged. The Judge even warned Gary that if he claims this privilege, there will be no evidence to decide who said what to whom when. Gary kept going down the stupid path anyway.

In this motion to reconsider there was no new evidence or law. The Judge still considered it even though he should have denied it outright.

Gary Michelson has said many, many, many times that he's a bad business man. He said that's why he hired David Cohen to manage all his investments in 2005. Then how did Gary Michelson continue to make mistakes since 2005? Gary Michelson must think he's smarter, wiser, more experienced than David Cohen which is not so. Gary Michelson is his own worst enemy. Gary keeps "cheating" himself with his poor judgment, lack of due diligence, complete lack of ability to judge people and investments. That's why I think he's mentally ill. He's making HUGE mistakes. He has hired great advisors, managers then he doesn't listen to them.

I think this case will be huge ammo for Neil and Richard. This shows Gary contradicts his own testimony and files frivolous complaints. It also shows Gary Michelson is indeed a very poor business man. Gary has stated this at least 20 times that I know of. David Cohen needs to take away Gary's checkbooks and credit cards before he makes even bigger mistakes.

The crux of the Proskauer case was when did Gary know what he relied upon about the tax shelters and from whom? I think that is a similar issue to the Costa Rican case. When did Gary know what about the land that he bought and from whom? Did Gary ever read the faxes Richard sent? I doubt Gary read all the faxes I sent. Just because I sent them doesn't guarantee he read them. So far all we know is that Gary saved the faxes. David Cohen was supposed to be in charge of all investments from mid 2005 and on. The current charges are only from December 2005 to the present. Then it was Cohen's responsibility to investigate the land purchases. Then it wouldn't matter what Richard sent to Gary unless Gary sent that to Cohen. Even then it was Cohen's job to properly investigate things. Maybe Gary should sue Cohen? Marten? Himself? Everyone?

From the transcript, pg 340 pdf, 234 txt, lines 5 - 18. Gary is answering Robert Knowles. Yes, Knowles asked these damning questions. If you read the section, Gary has many of his own advisors, accountants, business managers at this time reviewing, investigating his investments. Cohen tells Gary something is up with the land deals yet Gary continues. Cohen said he's not getting documents from Richard. Then Cohen should have investigated the records himself which he eventually did. Was Gary willing to turn a blind eye just to keep being friends with Neil? Neil is probably the only friend Gary has ever had in his entire life.

Gary hired Cohen June 2005 if not earlier. July 7, 2005 David Cohen formed Karlin Asset Management a California corporation.

It appears then David Cohen is the one who did not properly investigate the land deals just like Gary's attorney did not properly investigate the tax shelters. Gary said David Cohen handled all of that from mid 2005 and on. The remaining charges are from December 2005 and on. That is when Cohen told Gary he is concerned about the land deals. Oddly enough David Cohen brags to everyone that Gary did so great in the Costa Rican land deals even until very recently! This case is beyond silly to the point of being surreal. I'm pretty sure Robert Knowles wants to add back the pre December 2005 charges for this reason. Gary admits he had his business manager David Cohen take over all his businesses and investments in mid 2005.

More damning evidence. David Cohen took over mid 2005. David Cohen mid 2011 brags that they did very, very well in teak farms in Costa Rica. I saved all the pages in case they delete them. Gary had 36.4 square miles. Cohen is just rounding up. This is the same exact land where Gary said he lost money. Which is it?

I posted this before but it's important enough to repost it. I saved the original as I do with everything before I posted it so it won't get deleted at the source. I also save the original to an independent third party website verification site so I have their time, date stamp that it is authentic. This is very telling. May 12, 2011 interview of David Cohen by Russ Alan Prince of Private Wealth.

This case was originally filed February 1, 2008. Gary filed a ton of lawsuits in 2007 to 2010 for people "cheating" him. How can they cheat him when he has had a business manager who has handled all his investments, businesses since 2005? You would not believe the number of legal filings in this case! Each side at one point was filing three items per day. Only one winning are lawyers.

More tax evasion by Gary Michelson. He hides assets in non-profits, Forbes, billionaire

Gary Michelson said he was going to give all his money away to charity. Years after he formed these non-profits he hadn't funded them. After I wrote a few articles about this he finally funded the Michelson Medical Research Foundation. He put in $108M and spent about $4M. The $4M he spent on Found Animals. $104M is just sitting there as stocks, bonds, banking accounts, funds making interest and increasing in value. This is probably why he is the only director of the organization. He wants to control his money which is just sitting in there not helping anyone or his mission statement.

He also started a new non-profit fund called Found Animals Legislative Fund Inc. I will check that out to see if that is what paid the author and lobbyist, pr, media person to write the "White Paper." https://bulk.resource.org/irs.gov/eo/2013_08_EO/27-4529197_990O_201212.pdf He modeled this after HSUS's legislative fund. Gary put $10,000,000 into it. It's purpose is to get bills passed. Like the one that just failed? The fund spent $5K. I think this was the $5K Gary paid to a lawyer to write an appeal in the Colorado Breed Specific Legislation against pit bulls. That means that $9,995,000 is sitting in a non-profit making interest and increasing in value without having to pay taxes on it.

He lists that one holding is Karlin Oppotunity (sic) Fund LLC. He lists loans he made on real estate. This really looks like tax evasion. And here Gary Michelson says non-profit art museums are "just tax evasion." He should talk. Again, he is the sole director. Generally you need at least three directors. He changed that because I believe he fears being kicked off his own board. Now he can use this non-profit for tax evasion and personal dealings. His medical research non-profit gave $4.5M to Found Animals as part of one of its goals? He also gave money to 20 Million Minds which has to do with text books.Gary admits he spends zero hours a week working on the non-profit.He started another group named after himself, "Michelson foundation and business plan competition." "I never name things after myself, neva eva." He also donated money to support patent education. He only gave a few thousand to spinal cord research. This non-profit is not giving money toward it's main goal which is medical research. I'm no accountant but it looks like tax evasion to me. Originally Gary said the foundation was to support research into helping people with bad backs.
