Dr. Gary Michelson's main patent--which I believe he stole--may not have been patentable, billionaire, forbes

"Iron lung," negative pressure ventilator, from open source copyright of Wikipedia.
My fellow rehabbers and I were talking about a new virus that causes paralysis similar to polio. I was reading up on polio when I realized I didn't know how an iron lung worked. An iron lung is a negative pressure ventilator. I saw the below in the wiki page.

"In 1931, John Haven Emerson (February 5, 1906 – February 4, 1997) introduced an improved and less expensive iron lung.[14][15] The Emerson iron lung had a bed that could slide in and out of the cylinder as needed, and the tank had portal windows which allowed attendants to reach in and adjust limbs, sheets, or hot packs.[9] Drinker and Harvard University sued Emerson, claiming he had infringed on patent rights. Emerson defended himself by making the case that such lifesaving devices should be freely available to all.[9] Emerson also demonstrated that every aspect of Drinker's patents had been published or used by others at earlier times. Since an invention must be novel to be patentable, prior publication/use of the invention meant it was not novel and therefore unpatentable. Emerson won the case, and Drinker's patents were declared invalid."

If a patent must be novel, then Dr. Gary Michelson's main patent, i.e. threaded spinal cage, was not patentable. If was developed at least seven years earlier by a horse vet. The vet spoke about his invention at a seminar. Another doctor spoke with him and suggested making the device threaded so it won't slip.

Dr. Gary Michelson heard about this and decided to take their invention, idea and patent it quickly. He filed his patent two or three months before the actual inventors. Because he was "first to file," he received the patent. Gary Michelson didn't even build or use the device until years later. Ever since he filed this patent, he sues the shit out of anyone who dare tries to patent or use anything distantly related. If Gary Michelson actually cared about people, he would license some of his patents for free. Gary Michelson only cares about money, control and power.

On this note I legally used some text and a photo from Wikipedia which is open source. Wikipedia runs on donations. Most people can edit the information. I support this type of work. That's why all my manuals are free to use. They've been free and in pdf format since 2002, over 12 years. That is how you share information to help people and animals. You don't try to make money off the backs of animals. You don't keep your data and inventions to yourself while allowing animals to die.
