Gary Michelson revealed many embarrassing, personal things in this lawsuit. Was it worth it for him? No.

Gary Michelson and his bud David Cohen shovel money to USC

Dr Gary Michelson gave the DAs tons of money. His goal was to get them to throw his ex-best friend in prison for effectively life. While trying to accomplish this Gary Michelson revealed himself to be involved in what I believe is political corruption. Gary admitted he had lunch with the DAs office to "thank" them for filing charges against his ex-friend. I've posted the docs which show he donated the max to the ex and current DAs.

Gary Michelson committed perjury in trial on the stand and in written documents. There was no six percent agreement. There was no salary. The defendants did not take any money or property from Gary. Gary filed a false report to the DAs office. I truly believe the DA should go after Gary for perjury. He wasted a ton of the state's money on this case. All the trips to and from Costa Rica, flying witnesses here and back, all the hours of investigation, so many motions, court time...

We also found out that Gary even with his buddy David Cohen his business manager and Andres Marten his teak farm manager is still a shitty businessman. Gary paid David and Andres lots of money to look out for his finances and they both failed him. They should have told him to sell the land before the Costa Rica real estate crash. They both obviously are not looking out for Gary, only themselves.

I told all my friends before the US real estate crash to sell, not buy. I have 30 years experience in real estate and have been through three recessions. The signs are always the same right before the crash. It was very obvious that things were way top heavy and prices were out of control. There is no way that David and Andres did not foresee the crash. What's even more nauseating is that David Cohen in 2011 AFTER the crash tells a magazine that his teak farm investments have been a fantastic investment and will continue to do great. Which is it? It's a great investment or they lost money? They can't have it both ways.

In David Cohen's recent resume he omits that he worked for Murdock, Dole. Maybe he was fired. He left, was fired in 1997. He then went and worked for two horrible companies one as a principal. Both companies were scammers i.e. Quellos, New Century. David was there while they were ripping people off. He worked at New Century while he also worked for Gary. His first job was at another company renown for ripping off uber wealthy people, Lazard Freres. He's now selling investing seminars and started another investing company from his house. His previous one went under. I don't see much success in David Cohen except in landing wealthy people to try to loot. He claims to have worked for "two" companies, Dole and Pacific Holdings. They are basically the same company as they are owned by the same person. He no longer mentions Quellos, only the company that bought it. Could it be because the CEO and lawyer for Quellos were indicted?

Why does Gary Michelson advertise his own real estate holding company as a business?

Dr. Gary Michelson is Karlin Real Estate, Karlin Asset Management. They are his holding companies. The people who work for Karlin Real Estate work for him. Why does he have a website bragging about his people, services and return on his own investment? Is he trying to solicit new investors, clients? Or is he just bragging about his accomplishments for no reason? Is he trying to get people to offer him real estate?

I remember seeing Gary receive a business license tax refund because these companies were his private holding companies. They weren't a business. Why is he advertising as if he were a business? Is this for David Cohen's ego?

Out of one side of Gary Michelson's mouth he said he got swindled in teak farms in Costa Rica. Out of the other side of his mouth he brags that he made a bundle in teak farms in Costa Rica. Which is it?

As I now look at the lawsuit and criminal charges against Philip Powers I don't think Gary has a case. He had real estate appraisers, real estate lawyers look at the teak farm properties before he bought them. Then Gary Michelson bought they for an agreed upon price. Gary Michelson made a lot of money on the deals. He didn't lose money, no money was stolen. If Karlin Real Estate and Karlin Asset Mgmt were that experienced, knowledgeable, how did Gary Michelson come to feel cheated? Did his advisors do a bad job? Maybe Gary sued Powers because he found out Powers made a profit. He probably got mad at David Cohen who then blamed Powers and Campbell.

I don't trust that supposed "agreement" which calls for six percent commission. That's not how things work in Costa Rica. I know because I helped a friend with some real estate issues in Belize. It's a completely different world. There is no MLS or easy escrows.

I also don't trust it because Gary spelled his last name as "Michaelson" and not "Michelson." What is Gary's real last name? Is "Michaelson" just a spelling, typographical error? I know with my name people generally misspell it "Cummings." Some people even misspell my first name "Marie" or "Marilyn." I have never misspelled my own name yet Gary in his own handwriting printed his name wrong.

In the appeal case Gary Michelson tried to argue "loss of a bargain." I think that's what he's trying to argue in the CA civil fraud case with the teak farms. Powers bought a piece of property. He spent money and time to clear liens, secure title so it would fit Gary's needs. He offered it to Gary at a certain price. Gary and his experts agreed and bought the property. Now Gary wants any profit Powers might have made. Powers is a land dealer. That's what he does. Gary lost the appeal case for this exact same reason. If Powers had an attorney, he could have argued this but he didn't. Powers needs to appeal the CA case but he can't afford an attorney. I am happy that I was able to write my own appeal in the Texas case. Otherwise I would have been screwed like Powers.
