Richard Powers is allowed bail! Relieved this Judge is so far fair - Gary Michelson

UPDATE: I was hoping they'd update Pacer so I could just post that but no. The below is what happened at the hearing.

Powers granted bail pending the posting of a $750K property bond on his behalf.  Could be out of jail in a week but after all the games the DA played in the criminal case with bail it may be longer.

At the hearing Judge Sagar listed the following "special circumstances" for bail release.

1.  There is cause to believe this is a case of double jeopardy and would be in Richard's favor to overturn an extradition claim by Costa Rica.

2.  There is an apparent lack of "diplomatic necessity" from Costa Rica based on the facts presented which show it was nearly ten years since the original criminal complaint was filed in Costa Rica to the time that a request was officially made from the Costa Rican government in April, 2017.

3.  Based on all the letters received from family and friends, as well as the strong showing of support in the courtroom, the court finds that Richard has strong family support and ties to the community, which has been ruled in other cases as a "special circumstance." Thanks to everyone who showed up at the hearing!

4.  The last "special circumstance" cited by the judge was that it is clear from the record that Richard never attempted to flee and even when on bail during the criminal case for nearly four years (he was released on bail Sept 5, 2013), demonstrated that he was abiding by the law, and therefore should not be considered a flight risk.

The US attorney made a pretty desperate plea to the Judge as to why Richard should not be allowed bail. Judge didn't budge. Gary will probably be fuming, ranting and raving at his "justice consultant" Steve Cooley and the US Attorney.  For the US attorney to make a desperate plea when he knows he's in the wrong shows the level of corruption. Same happened in the US criminal case.

This of course means nothing at the moment. Previous Judges acted fair for a hearing or two only to cave later to political pressure.

Oyster, Netflix for books, $9.95/mo over 500M books. Gary Michelson, 20 Million Minds

Oyster lets you rent books for $9.95/mo. Obviously no delivery costs. These are major popular books by big name authors. There are some educational, self-help books in there, the entire Dummies series. I don't see many textbooks. I think this company could easily add textbooks. That would be $120/yr for all textbooks. They are so far ahead of 20 Million Minds. I wonder who put this free text book idea in Gary's head.

Gary Michelson, 20 Million Minds, reinventing the wheel...why? So he can patent it.

I updated my iPhone today and realized they changed the book shelf design. That's when I realized that Apple had free iTunes University books and pod casts starting in at least January 2006. That was the first time I heard of them and downloaded some free classes. It probably existed years before this. I was late to Apple, iTunes and iPods.

Dr Gary Michelson and his 20 Million Minds are VERY, VERY late to technology. He never used a computer or email when I knew him in 2005-2007. Now he's saying he is "inventing" this shit that existed at least 20 years earlier. His ass kissers, people who want his money are telling him "wow, this is revolutionary! We're deconstructing the entire Internet and world!" because he pays them. Some of his employees were termed out politicians who know better yet they still lie to him. I really think Dean knew that all these things already existed. He probably just wanted a job. Gary Micheson looks like a laughing stock in that video saying he's revolutionizing the world.

Gary Michelson, 20 Million Minds. Free classes and books are better than just free books.

Because I went to college in the 1980's I have not researched current college offerings. Yesterday I read about MOOCs.

"Generally speaking, MOOCs are entirely online and open to anyone with an Internet connection. Unlike a typical online course, MOOCs are usually free, though not always, and draw hundreds or thousands of students."

With all these non-profits offering free classes and free books being offered since the late 1990's who needs just cheap or free books from 20 Million Minds? Why in the world would Gary Michelson think that making and giving away cheap text books would be revolutionary? They've been doing it for years.

The Internet is going to increase everyone's education levels around the world. Now anyone can get a college education if they have a computer and Internet service. People don't even need to get a college degree. They can use the Internet to learn more about anything. Look at Benjamin Franklin. He didn't go to school past the age of ten. He became a writer, scientist, printer, politician through voracious reading. Gary Michelson thinks college and advanced degrees are so important because of his grandmother who drilled it into his head. He said in some interview jokingly that your Jewish grandparents will only acknowledge you when you get a PhD. For most careers and professions nowadays college degrees aren't really needed.
