The evolution of the elusive Dr Gary Michelson Prize - moving the goal posts - Replacement post

The "evolution" of the elusive Dr. Gary Michelson Prize - moving the goal posts

This entire Dr. Gary Michelson prize truly shows Gary's true nature. Without doing any research, thinking, talking to people such as his lawyers he announces his Prize. Prizes, contests are actually under control of the Attorney General. Gary didn't follow any of the legal guidelines. Besides that he keeps changing the prize to make it more difficult so he doesn't have to actually award the prize to anyone.

Here is a summary with more detailed copy/paste from the actual Prize offering beneath that.

2008 - Michelson Prize Details

Found Animals will offer a $25 million prize to the first entity to provide to the Foundation with a safe, effective, and practical non-surgical sterilant for use in cats and dogs.

(I did that)

2009 - Michelson Prize Details

The winning entry for the Michelson Prize in Reproductive Biology will have, at minimum, the following characteristics:
Single dose, non-surgical sterilant

Safe and effective in male and female, cats and dogs
Suitable for administration in a field setting
Viable pathway to regulatory approval
Reasonable manufacturing process and cost
Found Animals may at its sole discretion, consider awarding a partial prize in the event that a product or technology not currently available has the potential to substantially eradicate pet overpopulation but cannot meet all of the above criteria.

(I did that).

2010 - Michelson Prize Details

The winning entry for the Michelson Prize in Reproductive Biology will have, at minimum, the following characteristics:
Single dose, non-surgical sterilant
Safe and effective in male and female, cats and dogs
Suitable for administration in a field setting
Viable pathway to regulatory approval
Reasonable manufacturing process and cost  (I did that)
Found Animals expects exclusive commercialization rights to the prize winning product. The Foundation intends to pursue further development and commercialization activities as needed to bring the winning product or technology to market for use in cats and dogs.
Final decisions regarding the Prize award will be at the sole discretion of the Foundation.

(These are new requirements. In essence he doesn't have to award the prize to anyone. He also wants full commercialization rights)

2011 - Michelson Prize Criteria

The winning entry for the Michelson Prize in Reproductive Biology will have, at minimum, the following characteristics, as defined below:
Single dose, non-surgical sterilant
Administered in a single patient encounter
Must not require general anesthesia
May require sedation or local anesthesia
Subcutaneous implant is considered nonsurgical for the purpose of the Michelson Prize
Must induce permanent sterility for the reproductive lifetime of the species, defined as
at least 10 years after administration
Will generally require 3 years of data with a trend line with no expectation of recovery,
may require that study extends for additional time
Eliminating heat cycle in females highly preferred
Safe and effective in male and female, cats and dogs
Must be one product for both species and genders
Must be no more dangerous than surgical gonadectomy
Must be safe for treated animal, environment (including predators), and person
administering the product
Efficacy must be ≥ spay/neuter. For the purposes of experimental design, a lower
standard of proof may be acceptable
Must not induce clinical abnormalities or pathological lesions at 1X dose in safety
studies
Must not be carcinogenic, mutagenic, or clastogenic
Must not be a “bait” formulation (i.e. administered without handling of treated animals)
Suitable for administration in a field setting
May require refrigeration/cold chain but no frozen storage, water source, or other
electricity than refrigeration
Must have shelf life of at least two years
Must not require sterile environment/ surgical theater
Viable pathway to regulatory approval
As defined by FDA/CVM as a prescription product in dogs & cats
Regulatory approval will be sought by Found Animals
Reasonable manufacturing process and cost
Target is a low cost product to deliver to shelters
Must be no greater than $50 cost per dose to deliver labeled, packaged product to the
Foundation or other distributor, with <$25/dose preferred when manufactured at
commercial scale

(This is obviously a completely different prize now. He keeps changing the rules so no one can win. Let me add one more requirement while I'm here)

All animals who are administered this sterilant must defecate gold bricks ( 18K) and urinate liquid platinum...while reciting winning lotto numbers...while telling Gary Michelson that his biceps look great.

Dr. Gary Michelson is guilty of moving the goal posts. No one has won the $25,000,000 prize and they never will at this rate. Instead Gary's taken everyone's ideas and is doing research in house. Maybe he will claim the prize for himself.
