Chief Justice Tani Cantil Sakauye didn't pick substitute Justice properly - Gary Michelson criminal lawsuit

I just read an article by Justice Don Willett. While I don't feel he is the most ethical or nice person he is still very knowledgeable and a great writer. He just wrote this article about dealing with vacancies on Justice panels.

California’s chief justice, for example, has unbounded latitude, but old charges of cherry-picking led more-recent chief justices to opt for alphabetical appointments."

Old charges of "cherry-picking" are current charges. I searched high and low to find the selection process for appointing substitute Justices in the Appeals Court in California. Justice Richard Mosk became ill and had to step off the panel in this case. Chief Justice chose her friend to replace Justice Mosk. She just chose him for another case. She did not choose him based on alphabetical order.

Justice Mosk in oral argument clearly saw the ridiculousness of this case. I would have bet he would have voted against the other two Justices in this case. Yes, Campbell and Powers still would have lost but at least people would realize how ridiculous the corruption is in this case.
